Welcome From Our CEO

Catholic Charities Maine, CEO Stephen P. Letourneau

Dear Friends, CEO Stephen Letaurneau

Catholic Charities Maine has spent decades building one of the most compassionate and professional social service organizations in the state and so it is with great pride that I welcome you to our website.

Working for Catholic Charities Maine fulfills an innate yearning to help those in need. I believe we are all called to help each other especially those most in need. It is gratifying to know I am but one small part of a larger whole responsible for touching the lives of thousands of people in need. It is my goal as CEO to lead this agency to the best of my ability to uphold the mission, honor the good will and generosity of our many donors and strive for continued excellence in service delivery.

for over 40 years Catholic Charities Maine has been building a legacy that is a testament to our love and commitment to the poor. It is inspiring to look back at all the lives Catholic Charities Maine has touched. Today, throughout the state we serve more than 44,000 individuals and families of all faiths with only a small number of employees and a large core of volunteers. Catholic Charities Maine is about giving people of all faiths and beliefs what they need - courage, hope, compassion, respect, dignity. The work of Catholic Charities Maine is truly a legacy of love.

Catholic Charities Maine faces many challenges ahead. Our services are more in demand as needs in the community increase. So we continue to do more with less as state and federal funding is reduced and in some cases eliminated. In responding to this critical situation with integrity and accountability we have reorganized our operations to make our services more streamlined and effective without lowering our standards of service. We have strengthened ourselves internally and reinforced our partnerships throughout the state to ensure that Catholic Charities Maine will be here for generations to come.

On behalf of Bishop Malone, our Board of Directors, our staff, and volunteers, welcome to Catholic Charities Maine. We hope you will consider partnering with us to make a difference in the lives of families in Maine. It is through faith, good stewardship, and the generosity of people like you that Catholic Charities Maine will be able to continue in it’s legacy to bring hope and promise to the people we serve.

With prayers and best wishes,

Stephen Letaurneau
