Functional Family Therapy
Functional Family Therapy (FFT) offers home-based family therapy services to families with at-risk children ages 9–20. This program follows the three phases of the Functional Family Therapy model, an outcome-driven, prevention/ intervention model for youth who have demonstrated the entire range of maladaptive, acting out behavior and related syndromes. In Phase One, the program engages and motivates youth and their families by decreasing intense negativity, blaming and hopelessness. In Phase Two, the program reduces and eliminates problem behaviors and accompanying family relational patterns through individualized behavior change interventions. In the Final Phase, the program generalizes changes across problem situations by increasing the family’s capacity to utilize community resources and engage in relapse prevention. The average duration of services is 8 –12 weeks, although services can be extended for up to 30 weeks when necessary. In addition, Case Management services may be provided by a Bachelor level case manager, if appropriate. Families with at-risk children and adolescents, 9–20 years of age, adjudicated and non-adjudicated with delinquency, acting out, violent, truancy, substance involvement or other serious maladaptive behaviors are eligible to receive FFT services.
