Monticello Threads of Hope Thrift Store to Re-Open as Outlet Center

April 1, 2015

Monticello, ME – Following a three-month winter hiatus, The Monticello location of Threads of Hope Thrift Store will re-open on Friday, April 3rd as an outlet center. “Just when you thought our bargains couldn’t get any better, we’re coming back with even bigger savings for our shoppers,” says Dixie Shaw, Director of Hunger and Relief Services at Catholic Charities Maine.

The outlet center in Monticello will be open Fridays and Saturdays only from 9am-4pm. Shoppers will be treated to amazing savings with ongoing cart sales −$40 for a shopping cart full of merchandise (excludes furniture). “Bargain Bins” will feature a variety of clothing and accessory items all for $1. The outlet will even feature an expanded furniture section.

With three Threads of Hope locations in Aroostook County (Caribou, Presque Isle and the Monticello outlet) the thrift stores are a program of Catholic Charities designed to generate funding for the Agency’s two Food Banks. The Food Banks supply 24 food pantries in Aroostook County, feeding more than 25,000 people last year alone.

“Out motto has always been, “You get a good deal and someone gets a good meal,” enthuses Shaw. “We’re counting on folks’ support to make our Monticello outlet a success so we can continue to meet the increase in those challenged by hunger insecurity here in the County.”

Threads of Hope is always seeking volunteers, donations and, of course, shoppers to ensure it can continue its mission to feed the hungry in Aroostook County. To volunteer, or for more information, call 493-8919.
