Biddeford, Maine – Catholic Charities Maine today announced that two of its programs have been awarded a one-year grant from United Way of York County totaling $33,000.

Independent Support Services will receive a total grant of $8,000 to support outreach to senior citizens in the community and homemaker services that enable them to remain living independently in their home.

The Agency’s St. Louis Child Development Center in Biddeford is the recipient of a grant totaling $25,000 to support early childhood development and ensure access to quality child care for all.

St. Louis Child Development Center welcomes children of all faiths from 6 weeks to 7 years of age and provides developmentally appropriate learning opportunities along with enrichments such as art, music and play to meet children's educational needs along with the need for a safe and nurturing environment. 50% of the children enrolled at St. Louis are  from low-income families.
