Position description: Education Services for Blind and Visually Impaired Children (or ESBVIC) is a statewide service of Catholic Charities Maine providing assessment, instruction, and consultation to blind and visually impaired children, their parents, and school personnel. Among the services we offer are: low vision training, braille instruction, instruction in use of adaptive equipment, selection and/or modification of specialized curriculum, activities of daily living, strategies to facilitate concept development, and consultation to schools and families about the implications of visual impairment.

The volunteer would assist the ESBVIC director (remotely)

• will have to meet with the Director of ESBVIC to pick up materials at the office in Auburn or Biddeford, and have a training on what needs to be converted.
• The data conversion project helper would be able to work remotely - and convert teacher resources form PDF format to Word - or if you have experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, you might be able to convert the files for the teachers this way. This would be very helpful.for the teachers, so that they can help the students better, with more resources. 

Impact of opportunity: Helping to creating more supplemental teacher materials for the education of children with a visual impairment.  would be helpful for the staff, and the children that they serve.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

• Ability to work mostly remotely at home, with an onsite training with the Director of ESBVIC.
• Dependable person who can take direction from the IMC director
• Computer and software of either Adobe Acrobat Pro, and basic knowledge of WORD or PDF files.

Training Offered: Catholic Charities Maine Agency Orientation; On-the-Job training

Time Commitment/Schedule: Flexible, at home schedule, as long as material are available to process.
