Position description: The Program Associate intern will assist the On-Site Supervisor of the program to enhance the capacity for resource sharing and knowledge for refugees by improving the existing community resource materials and brochures, and by enhancing training and marketing resources of the program to be used by staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing video and photo materials of services provided to share on our website and social media outlets
- Working with the SORS Services for Older Refugees Volunteer Coordinator to help with filing documents, updating the volunteer database and following with volunteers as needed
- Helping with organizing the program events, cultural orientations, trainings, and the annual world refugee day event
- Updating existing community resources and identifying gaps in resources for clients that need further development
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Experience and/or interest in working with diverse populations (Must be comfortable in interacting with staff and clients of all nationalities)
- Maturity, initiative, sound judgment, dependability, interpersonal skills,
- Self motivated and able to take initiative and work independently
- College degree (or some completed) in Communications, Art and Design, Business, Anthropology/Sociology or a related field
- Solid computer skills – internet, databases, Microsoft Office, and photo or video editing programs
- In addition to English, speaking French, Arabic, Somali, or Portuguese will be an asset and will be considered as a key skill in the hiring process
Training Offered: Catholic Charities Maine Volunteer Orientation, Introduction to RIS and the position; Additional training as needed.
Time Commitment and benefits: The Program Associate Intern position is a full-time position during the Summer of 2026. Preferred date of start is June/July 2026, but we may be flexible, Also looking for August 2026 Fall Interns, or Winter 2027 interns as well.
